“MYcro Moments” from MYcroSchool Pinellas

Here are a couple of stories from MYcroSchool Pinellas’ “MYcro Moments” Newsletter from this week.

Students Volunteer at Trinity Café

On Wednesday, April 16th, a group of students from MYcroSchool were the first from our school to volunteer at Trinity Café in Tampa. The Café serves homeless and hungry guests in the community year-round, providing those in need with a hot three course meal daily.

Each volunteer is encouraged to talk with guests, which for some will be the only conversation they might have with another person that day. The staff at Trinity Café where gracious hosts, providing support our student volunteers as they served well over two hundred guests during the very busy lunch hour. We look forward to returning to the Café in the future to do our part to help those in need!

Students Witness Eclipse

MYcroSchool Pinellas was able to witness an awesome phenomenon the day after an incredible lunar eclipse.

The phenomenon we experienced is called a 22-degree sun halo, and it forms as sunlight is refracted in ice crystals in high clouds. The crystals bend direct sunlight, projecting it elsewhere into the sky, and at a certain angle — 22 degrees — a halo appearing to be a circular rainbow can be seen around the sun.

Since many people had their eyes already on the sky this allowed for many people to view this exciting occurrence.
