MYcroSchool Citrus Principal Danita Smith
MYcroSchool Citrus Charter High School is thrilled to be under the leadership of Principal Danita Smith. Danita has been an Assistant Principal at Crystal River High School and a Principal at both the Renaissance School and Lecanto Middle School.
Ms. Smith is an active member of the Citrus County Community and has a heart for students in need of an innovative approach to learning. She will be a great leader for MYcroSchool Citrus as we move forward with identifying a location, setting up the program, and reaching the population that we serve.
Ms. Smith can be contacted directly at 352.527.0900 or Danita.Smith@mycroschool.org

While it is always best to attend a school within your school district, MYcroSchool Citrus Charter High School does accept students from neighboring counties on a case by case basis. You will have to complete a special attendance request form to be approved with MYcroSchool Citrus prior to enrolling.
MYcroSchool Citrus is considered a traditional brick and mortar school. You are required to attend classes here in the building for 25 hours a week. While in attendance, you will be in classrooms with certified teachers that are able to help you with your coursework. Our coursework is online, so you are able to access it from home if you choose to work from home. If you need help while in your coursework during non-school hours, you can click on the “help button” on the online program and you are connected with a teacher online who can provide the assistance you need.
MYcroSchool Citrus accepts students ages 18-23.
No, there is no specific time period that needs to pass for the student to complete an enrollment application with us at MYcroSchool Citrus.
MYcroSchool Citrus does not provide traditional school bus like the Citrus County School Board. However, the Citrus County Transit has partnered with us to provide each student with transportation to MYcroSchool Citrus. Once the student is enrolled and attending MYcroSchool Citrus, he or she fills out an application with the Citrus County Transit to receive a free bus pass for the Orange Line that is good for two years. Plus, students can use it to ride anywhere the Orange Line provides service.
We accept enrollment applications year round. A registration packet can be downloaded here and brought to the office. Once the enrollment application is received, the student is contacted with the date of our New Student Orientation date. New Student Orientation is mandatory and the student must attend prior to their first day of class with us.
If prior to enrolling at MYcroSchool Citrus the student was enrolled at Renaissance Center, we contact Renaissance Center and their zone school to receive approval for their enrollment at our school
Once MYcroSchool Citrus receives student records from their previous schools, we then review all transcripts to determine what courses the student needs to complete to obtain their high school diploma. The student will then be scheduled in courses needed to complete their high school diploma. We also make sure that any state testing that is needed is done within the timeline given by Florida’s Department of Education.
The student completes the enrollment application and submits it to our office. An administrative representative will call the student for mandatory New Student Orientation. They attend orientation and begin classes as soon as possible. Based on student records that we receive, the student would be placed in courses that are needed to successfully complete their high school diploma. Any state testing that the student needs to complete will be done within the timeline given by Florida’s Department of Education. As the student completes courses, they are placed in the next course needed. The course program that we utilize is available online for the student to access while they are here in class and while they are home. While in school, they have certified teachers available to assist them with the courses they are enrolled in. As an added feature, the online program we use has a help button that the students can use to get help while they are working from home. (It’s a red HELP button that the student clicks on within the program. Once clicked, a teacher appears who can give them the assistance they need.) once the student has completed all required courses, passed all state tests and has obtained the required 2.0 GPA, they are eligible for a Florida high school diploma.
