Our graduation ceremony was covered by the Tampa Bay Times today:
“Thirty-two students graduated this week from MYcroSchool, a St. Petersburg charter school, and two of them were recognized as top graduates.
The valedictorian, with a GPA of 3.16, was Dalon Tomyko Facey, 17, who plans to attend St. Petersburg College. She is the daughter of Alton Facey and Zsamiko Reid. She credits her mom with encouraging her to go back to school and “not give up on myself,” and registrar Faye McElroy for keeping her focused and on track.
The salutatorian, with a GPA of 3.06, was Shirin McCoy, 17, who also plans to attend SPC and has an interest in astronomy. She credits her mother, Micheala McCoy, for encouraging her and teacher Syliane Manyari for supporting her.
MYcroSchool describes itself as a small learning community providing a high school program for students who need to get back on track to graduation. An additional 12 students graduated in January from the school, which has an enrollment of nearly 300.”
Congratulations to all this year’s graduates who earned their diplomas!
