“Classify This! Marine Invertebrate Zoology”

On February 20th, MYcroSchool Pinellas students and chaperones participated in a Title I extended learning field trip to the Florida Aquarium, Tampa.

Students took part in “Classify This! Marine Invertebrate Zoology” lab. Using real samples of invertebrates, such as echinoderms and molluscs, students learned how scientists classify different invertebrates using a dichotomous key and learn about the key features that distinguish each phylum. Students were also challenged at the end of the lab to classify a live marine invertebrate and touch real sharks!

Students and chaperones also participated in scavenger hunt arranged by science instructor, Mrs. Cook.
