MYcroSchool Gainesville Charter High School students jumped for joy when the famous "Basketball" Cop showed up with a special surprise Friday. Officer Bobby White along with the Gainesville Police Department and the Basketball Cop Foundation donated a new basketball hoop and basketballs to MYcroSchool Gainesville. The Basketball Cop Foundation is dedicated to building relationships between the country's law enforcement and the youth in communities through trust.

Over 300 students will get to enjoy a game of hoops on their free time. Not only does the basketball hoop provide a source of entertainment, but it also promotes physical activity, and keeps students out of trouble. Daniel Barnett, Dean of Students, said "This is giving them the opportunity to see they can interact with police and see the community is not their enemy". This program builds trust within the community and helps increase attendance at MYcroSchool Gainesville.

MYcroschool Gainesville Charter High School is a tuition-free charter school that gives students the chance to get back on track and earn a standard high school diploma.
